[ Thankful, November 2013 ]
Life’s small bits take me back.
Back to when I sat under my mom’s sewing machine table catching the strips of quilt that inched their way over the edge. Back to when I chatted about the weather in the laundry room of the la Universidad de Puerto Rico dorm without translating first in my head. Back to when I snuggled the wind through my children’s laughter.
Now my not-so-little ones want a seat at my sewing machine and translations for milk and cookies. They chase leaves in fall’s swirling winds and power their own breezes on swings that tease the sky. Soon enough, they land and sit idle.
And I? I sit back, waiting. The next bits, you see, will thankfully be … landmarks on our journey back to the future.
